How interesting. I might have MRSA. One of my classmates sent me a message last night that they have found MRSA from a few patients who stayed at the ward where we worked. As far as I know, they tested them this week and it´s been more than 2 weeks since I left there. And I never even worked with those patients. So, if I have it, I must have gotten it from another nurse. For now, there´s really nothing I can do about it. We have to call to our teacher on Monday after 10am. We can´t go to work *I was supposed to work tomorrow* until this is solved. Which means that if they are going to test us, it will take a few weeks till the result comes. And we can´t work before that... I´m not sure tho, have to ask the teacher on Monday. This might just effect on when I will graduate. I can´t do work practise if I have it. I have to wait till it´s gone. Shit! In case some of you don´t know what MRSA is...Google it... It´s a hospital bug, resistant to most antibiotics. MRSA is normal bacteria, Staphylococcus aureus, it´s everywhere. Anyone can have it. But the hospital bug, it´s dangerous to sick and old people.. also babies and patients that have been operated, the wound might be infected. If I had it, and it would effect me somehow I would already have symptoms. But normally people don´t even know if they have it.. it´s not dangerous to healthy people. Shit. *SIGHS*

Holy shit...
That's why I really hate hospitals! Who knows what you can contract from there! A friend of mine works as a nurse in a hospital. She has had the weirdest bugs and for some strange reason she's always suffering from some cold, or some infection!
If I visit people at the hospital (which rarely happens, thank god, only the smell makes me sick already!) then I always avoid touching things like door handles, bed frames, stuff like that. I also NEVER go to the toilet in a hospital. And I immediately wash my hands thoroughly the minute I get home! Is that weird or what?
Iona: No, it´s not weird at all. :) I think it´s a good idea. In fact, you should wash your hands before you leave the hospital and use desinfectant, if the hospital has it. They should, tho... I´m not surprised your friend has infections. I get some sort of flu everytime I go to a new ward for work.
